126 power mirror problem
the final non-major problem with my '82 300sd: the passenger side power mirror does not function. i dont hear the mechanism moving at all when i use the switch. the switch itself feels pretty sticky. i pulled it out, but couldnt figure out how to take it apart in order to clean the thing out (it doesnt seem possible). before ordering a new switch ($28), or abandoning all hope as the mirror itself is really pricey, does anyone have any advice? i can find nothing in the forums about rehabbing this problem, nor do i fully understand how the power mirror works. is it all self contained in the mirror housing itself, save for the switch inside the cabin? should i abandon all hope, or spend $28 and then abandon all hope?

Yes, the motor and everything are inside the mirror. Don't spend $28 on a new switch. Find a pull-a-part and get a 'new' one. The motor could be gone too. I replaced my mirror with a junkyard one for $3.
