96 E300D shutting off

I have a 96 300D that shuts off occassionally after 3-4 miles. I have had the IP seals done, K40 relay, the reference sensor, (which went bad in a similar way on our E320) and now I am still stumped. Car runs great majority of the time. Any thoughts...

TIA
Dan

Have you checked ALL of the plastic fuel lines? Mine went bad...no fuel leak just air getting into the system...ran poorly and/or stalled. Replaced the o-rings in the lines and that fixed the problem.

If it is shutting down while driving "as if key were turned off" AND you know the K40 is good then your next step would be to look at the fuel shutoff solenoid or it's electrical connection.

A bad pre-filter o-ring OR fuel pre-heater can cause that problem.

Just some follow up. We found the o ring at the pre heater was leaking and replacing it seems to have fixed it. It was probaly the only o ring that was never replaced in 180k miles.

Don't think there's an o-ring on the pre-heater other than the one in the plastic fuel line fitting...is that what you replaced?
