Do you mean on the Vacuum solenoid? There aren't any wires on the EGR valve as it is vacuum actuated.

Hummm.
It was on the pass side front of the cross over pipe. It has a connector with three wires. Didn't drive the car today so don't know what if any result

The EGR valve is located on the driver's side of the car, just under the point where the intake turns down. There's a controller on the passenger side for the turbo wastegate that has wires and vacuum lines in it...don't know if that's what you're talking about though.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the turbo version...I see now you have the N/A model so that may very well be related to the EGR system...I'm not familiar with that model but it does look like the EGR valve.

No problem,

I just drove the car and no more bucking! Had the codes cleared PO400 & PO380 and the check engine light stayed off.

Keep my fingers crossed, maybe Christmas came early

I havent yet read the entire post but I will tell you this. The wires your pointing to are for telling the computer if the EGR valve is open or closed. If you unplug it... it will disable the resoginator valves (Flaps) in the intake manifold and throw a few codes.

If you are getting bucking while the car is just cruising around 45-55 then you Flaps are must likely gummed up. If you research "Breath of fresh air" I discuss the disabling of the egr and also the clean out of the Flpas

Actually it sounds fuel related after I read it, sorry. k40 Relay maybe.... Unless you have two seperate problems going on at the same time. There is a specific code that is EGR and Flaps related though

UPDATE!

Car was running great, no check engine lights, cruisin along then bam. dead. The car fires over for a fraction of a second and dies. No air in the lines and I'm sure that it is an electronic problem to the shut off valve, either computer or wiring harness.

just to make sure... did you replace the K40? That main relay has been known to be the cause of many strange things... Read the threads on it. Sounds like your issue may also be related to the K40.

The part about firing but dieing is confusing. Otherwise, the K40 replacement sounds right.

Perhaps there remains enough residual fuel in the lines to make the motor cough?

Yep replaced the k40 last month.

I was told the computer controls the shut off valve by sending a signal when it is opened (ie running) and cutting the signal when closed (off). What has happened with the car is it hiccuped once then shut off. I could ALMOST restart it but it would cut out again. My guess is that my computer and or wiring harness/connectors to the computer are bad...

Find out more tomorrow

Update
Mechanic could not duplicate the problem (stalling). I am sending the computer out to ecudirect.com for testing/rebuild. If that doesn't work I'll move onto the wiring harness.

When my shutoff valve went bad it would shut down instantly, w/o warning, at any speed or driving condition....Was as if key were turned off.

Different than you have clarified yours is reacting.

I think testing the ECU as MBDOC said is your best bet.

If it tests good, I might replace the shutoff valve (if you haven't already) before doing the harness. They are expensive. I know. Mine flew here from Germany (probably first class ).

edit: had the chance to re-read the whole thread again and see you DID replace the shutoff valve.

alarm

If its not too much trouble, try to disconnect the car alarm. My friend suffered a mental breakdown chasing gremlins. He got better when he disconnected the alarm system. I recall he said it was under the passenger floor mat. Of course you know this is only a wildass guess, but when you reach that point....
