How to access evaporator and heater core compartment??

I have not attempted it yet but can some who has tell me how to get in to the heater core and evap area? What I want to do is clean it somehow just because its probably accumulated a bit of dirt over the last 20+ years. I know the evap has a drain but the heater core most likely does not.

Would this be possible to do? Thanks.

Which one?

Since you said "20 years old," I guess you don't mean the newer car, right?

One of the experts will have to check in but I think accessing the heater core and evaporator requires pulling the whole dash apart. Not a difficult job but very time consuming.

You have been around long enough to understand the search function, right? Also, this could be one of the most thorough threads to ever be posted on the forum, and I can't believe you haven't seen it.
I printed it out, and it was 142 pages. That should give you an idea of what the job is like.......
