Dear PO, duct tape was never intended ...
... to be used as a substitute for electrical tape. And those pesky crimp connectors, if you learn how to use them, you can actually get a pressure weld instead of a loose connection.
Just venting and sharing my latest PO story. With the help of the MB wiring diagrams, I traced the fault that was preventing my left rear window from coming up. A PO had tried to fix it once with duct tape and a badly crimped end splice. The positive parts of the story is how complete the wiring diagrams are a chance to experience the wonderful over engineering the germans are known for. |

Dear PO, Molly bolts were never ment for...
My dash board. One of the PO's of my wagon put two molly bolts in between the center dash vents. It has one of those cheesy plasitc digital clocks attached to it. I hate looking at them. But I don't know of a fix other than replacing the dash, it's cracked anyway.
I feel you pain Atleast you fixed yours

I spent a couple days when I first got the SDL with its interior mostly out. I wanted to install a new headunit and speakers and in the process found a tangle mess of PO wire from several speaker sets. Lucky they didn't touch the original wiring harness just added. So I traced and cut and had a pile when I was done, they didn't even bother to use the proper color, lots of hot black wire. But now I am on the OE wiring harness for the radio with properly marked and connected wires. They also ran some nice speaker wires for me and didn't use them? So I didn't have to do that at least!
I see this all the time in boats, its amazing how people can hack wiring.
