How to use the EPC?

I've been looking at the EPC to determine which parts to order for my transmission, but am confused--if a part has been replaced by a newer one, but the applicability of the newer part is for a transmission number higher than mine, which part do I order? Can I/should I order the latest part, even though the applicability is for a number higher than mine? Or must I stick with the part associated with my transmission number, even though the part has been "replaced by...". BTW, I'm looking at B2 valve parts.

If it has been replaced by... then you have to use the updated part number. Sometimes they change the part number but the part is the same. Sometimes the part gets revised.
