I have used this stuff on my 300D and our old 300SDL. The 300SDL would have a rough idle if I started the engine immediately after the glow plug light went out. My 300D always started smoothly after the light goes out. After DP'ing the 300SDL's 603, it started as smoothly as the 300D's 617. It lasted for about a couple months maybe, then went back to its old ways.

Snake oil?

Snake oil? I learned at my father's knee that all these special potions as a class were called "weasel piss."

The purge helped my car

I did the purge the other night. My car had reached the point where it was having a hard time starting, and was running rough. Now it's back to it's former self: starts up instantly, and runs fairly smooth. Don't know how long it will last though...

I think its pointless. The Bosch shop that did the injectors on my SDL specificaly told me not to do it. I did it on the SD for the heck of it and it made no difference.

Its snake oil, have your injectors tested and fixed if there is a problem. Use good fuel filters, change them on schedual, and use clean fuel. You don't need it and won't have problems.

Everytime this question comes up, the final conclusion is that DB is a good temp. fix for some issues, but is not a permanent solution for a good thorough manual cleaning/inspection/replacement of the injectors. Try it. If it helps, then you know some of your problems are injector related. I've yet to read of anyone actually being harmed by it. Just some hearsay.

On the subject of filling the fuel filter with ATF, I would not advise doing that, the engine cannot run exclusively on the stuff, and probably won't start (or would stall shortly after starting) A few members have had problems from doing that, they had to prime/crank it till the ATF was pushed through and it got diesel again. I usually just fill the filter most of the way with diesel, mount it/tighten, pump the primer pump a few more times, then start it up. No probs yet.
