4 gallons in a 25 pound box. Perfect for an 80/20 SVO/RUG mix.

We went up 20 cents in a few days.

I wouldn't run it straight. Probably would blend it 40% SVO. Diesel $$ has a long way to climb before that becomes cost effective. Maybe if Diesel hits $3.75 - $4.00.

Diesel fell about 2-3 cents around here in the past week, not much change, Gas has also stayed about the same. I did see RUG for 2.14 somewhere today though! Thats sure cheaper than the 2.64 average for diesel!
I actually found about 1/3 gallon of RUG in the garage in a container from my SVO experiments this past summer today, poured it in my tank, free fuel!

I ran a mix of about 10 gallons of Clear Fry oil, (soy), 4 gallons of diesel, and a couple gallons of RUG this summer. Started instantly when cranked over cold (faster than on diesel even!! ) And idled so quiet I couldn't even tell it was running at idle. Very cool. And, my fuel filters that were on the car at the time (6 months and 11k ago) are still on there working fine, so it didn't even clog the filters. I was able to get a 36lb 4.6 gallon cubie for about $12.80, so about $3.02 a gallon....less mpg's on the mix though, so I went back to diesel. Got more power by doing so too....

It's very simple. You offer $5 a gal and they are offering $5.50. Who would you sell it to if you were them?

Nobody ever mentions the fact that the US Military is consuming HUGE quantities of diesel fuel (JP8 if I'm not mistaken). Everything in Iraq is run on the stuff; generators, trucks, tanks, helicopters, HMMWV's, etc.... Let's not forget that we are also in Afghanistan.

How much diesel is being used daily by our deployed military? That has to have some impact on the available volume.

Question US Military, off road High Sulphur Diesel???

I would assume that due to their nature Tanks, Generators and the like would use "off road diesel".

And in countries without much legislation period...I would not think it would be a requirement to run ULSD.....sheoooottt....a lot of those folks don't even have indoor plumbing......I get a chuckle just thinking about requiring ULSD in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan.....if you have ever seen a Bus in any of those places...as well as the entire continent of Africa....they are a hoot, belchin black smoke loaded with folks taking their chickens, goats, hogs, and produce to market.....way overloaded......

perhaps our jet aircraft may require diesel/kero/JPx that have a higher requirement for refinement.....but I doubt it....

I agree that the US military is burning huge amounts of fuel....but I seriously doubt that it is taking any refining capacity from making ULSD...

slightly good news

I talked to a guy from BP yesterday at my job (i am a massage therapist at denver international airport). He said that BP is on track researching alternative fuels in europe. The only bad part is that only about 10- 12% of their money is going towards that. I believe he said that BP knows that crude IS going to run out and they are looking towards alternatives. althoug it is a small step it is a step.

He also said something about having a research contract with a university somewhere on the bio side of things.
