just bought a 81 300sd, and its having shifting problems... help?>?
I got a new car, 300sd nice car it even has a rebuilt transmision but its having problems now, when give it gass it goes into first then kinda revs up and then shifts realy hard into second gear and when im going up a hill it likes to switch gears alot. I just drove it to LA and back and when i got back i started having this problem, are there any adjustments that i can do to help:??

It's CRITICAL... how you set your transmission's vacuum system on your diesel MBZ... You may also want to look at a recent thread on the same topic that I posted. You can search for threads that I have posted under my screen name and I think you will find it. Hope this helps

Sounds like you may need to adjust your Bowden cable and/or check your vacuum going to the VCV on top the IP and to the trans. Check the vacuum before making any adjustments. Hard shifting is a sign of low vacuum. Higher than normal vacuum will cause softer shifting or flaring. Hopefully Brian Carlton will chime in here. He is sharp on trans settings. (Along with many others on here) You will also want to make sure you have bypassed the 3/2 valve on the valve cover and bypassed the EGR system (for testing purposes only of course) to help eliminate the source of any other leaks.
