Mom likes the TD...

My 72 year old Mother is down for the Holidaze. We are still working and she is used to going and doing as she pleases....she got bored! She wanted to go out, run around, do some shopping, so I said here's the keys to the Impala. She said where are the keys to the wagon?? So I hooked her up and moved the GPS to the MB and showed how to use it...she like hi-tech stuff.

She was gone 4 hours! I was starting to worry and then she drives up. She drove 147 miles, just tooling around the Hill Country. She thinks the old wagon is and I quote "A pretty cool old ride, for a wagon!". She also said the car was just like me....it works better when you kick it in the ass! (she's a tough ole broad) Tomorrow she wants to drive up towards Fredricksburg, shop and go see Enchanted Rock state park.

How do you tell your Mom you don't like other people driving your MB?? I just said, don't bring it back home empty....please. Now I know how she felt when I would borrow her car when I was a kid. Pay backs are hell.

You did the right thing. I don't like anyone else driving my MB either, exceptions are my g/f (who doesn't care for the W126, let's see if she likes the W115 better!) and beyond that, my folks.

For all they've done for me, they are welcome to try out any car I've owned. Rarely has the offer been taken up, though (Audi 5000TQ gave my dad an odd smirk!).

be patient and let your mom enjoy the 123!

My mom taught me how to drive a clutch on an 84 (I think) 240D. She's welcome to borrow any of my cars any time.

She enjoyed cruising the (now sold) 87 Syncro Vanagon, that was pretty cool

Same here, my mom also likes the wagon because the seats are anatomically correct and she gets no backaches when she takes it around. It also feels more stable on the highway, compared to our Corolla. When it gets restored, it will be her car. I just need to find the time to work on it...

Speakin of moms and holidays, aint they hell to find a Christmas present for?

My own mom 86 yrs old drives a brand new VW beetle. What's yer mom's hometown car? Maybe since she's bugging you about the Benz, give her a *duplicate* set of keys for the car. Assuming she aint gonna snatch it and drive it home - but even if she does?

Yesterday was my sainted mother's 85th birthday, and a couple of months ago we bought her a new Altima. She loves her "little car" more than I ever would have imagined. Our mothers are getting to drive for many years aren't they......
Not many folks driving actually grew up in Model T's.......

HER car is a little brand new grey some kinda Mercury/lincoln I think...I'm terrible about cars that don't interest me...I just don't pay attention to them. She bought to fit in her carefully measured garage.

She was talking about the MB at dinner...she said she liked that star floating out in front of her....which is oddly one of the things I really like about driving it! She loved the auto climate control and the fact that the heater gets so hot you could "roast weenies" in the floor board! She is a hoot.

BTW, I got her a guided catfishing trip to Lake Fork for Christmas. The guide said he would do all the fish cleaning and let her drink bourbon on his boat...she said tell him to bring bobbers and plenty of bait....I think I'm gonna be the 3rd guy in that boat!!

I let my mom and my aunt have the keys to my 87 vette for the weekend. They looked like Thelma and Loise! It's hard going from a vette to a '85 190D!
