A little thud in rear, 79 240D

Recently replaced my sway bar links. Still get a little thud some times when car down shifts. Visuals of the flex discs and the rear diffy horse collar mount at least look good.

How do you know if the diffy mount is bad. Sure looks good to me.

Regards Tom

Yes, the one in the center of the drive shaft. They have many different names, but it is in between the transmission and the differential. Around the truck shop I used to hang out at, they were called center link bearings, since the supported the area where a u-joint connects the two halfs together.

You grab the drave shaft and try to shake it. A little lateral motion is normal, since there is a rubber bushing, but it it moves say 1/4 inch or more, it possible that the bearing is going out. Typically it's the rubber that gives out.
