Thumbs up

The gold DeLorean was sold with some sort of AmEx coupon back in '82 I think ('81-83 built only)...

I think three were sold and one was taken for delivery.

Anyway, I'd take that car for a drive... OFF A CLIFF.

Nevertheless folks, it has garnered 8 bids already on fleecebay as of DEC14, 10:26. Are black-buttoned white seats (mmm-delicious) that much in vogue? Looks like someone's gonna get a real surprise for Christmas. Sort like a very large version of the tasteless gift tie. A real surprise...EEEK.

That said, I wish I had hydraulics. I mean, only if they were free and did not mess up my ride quality. Cause rocking that **** at a stop light when some gangster is showing off would be amazing.

Now if you want to go all out like this and plate the whole damn car then I'll bow before the boundless waste of money. (sorry, couldn't find a GW300 gold plated on-line...)

This Dilorian was gold plated and given to MasterCard or Visa, I cant remember which one, as a promotional offer in the 80's. There were only two or three ever made. Harrah bought it and it sat in his collection for years before he died. Becuase of family fighting, after his death, the Harrah collection was sold off and his collection was broken up. He had the largest collection of cars in the world. This Dilorian was purchased by the Auto Museum in Reno where it is today. This car is worth millions. I saw this car over the summer when I was in reno and it is pretty *****in along with all the other cars in the collection. I would uggest any car buff to visit the place.

The Gold DeLorean

If photo shows what was part of Harrah's collection now relocated to Reno, the Jeep Grand Cherokee in the left of the photo might be an interesting artifact. Story goes like this: one of Harrah's Ferrari mechs totalled a 365 GT 2+2, going off backwards into the weeds, rocks, trees and what have you. Front was intact forward of the windscreen, so Harrah had the shop graft the Ferrari nose and drivetrain onto the jeep. That might be the same one. Once had the darn thing overtake me at more than a century whilst I was whistling across Nevada in a very quick lightweight Alfa Guilietta Sprint Veloce. It came up to me a Ferrari and disappeared as a jeep. Another old car muddle was a 330 GTC with a snowplow in Colorado -- also a true story. Money certainly does not assure good taste, but then some have described the chassis of old Ferraris as being tractor-like.

I like the front bumper. It looks like it was done fairly well. Look at how complete the interior is. Thats not saying I like it, just give someone credit for doing something with their car to make it different and putting in the effort.
