will a fan clutch for a 300E fit a 300D 2.5???

I cant find a difference, and I can get one fomr a 300E alot cheaper. Mine is broken. Anyone know how interchangeable these are?

It will fit and work fine, but I personally prefer the $80 fan clutch from the 1998-1999 E300 Turbodiesel.

the damage. Bah!

Get the late 606 plastic fan and the 300E clutch. Works great for me.

I have the order ready to go, just need to see where to get the bolt that connects it to the water pump.

Also, my 2 aux fans in front of the radiator dont come on. BAH!

I'd get that at the dealer so it's exact fit.

Probably need a new fan switch. Go with the red one.

Thought this was interesting. The part numbers in the other thread you gave me for the 99 E300 were the same as the ones the Benz dealer gave me when I went to get parts there. Obviously I am not going to get the parts from the dealer as they are less than 1/2 price here. Here are the lists.

Your part #s you gave me:
11 blade fan: 606-200-01-23
Fan clutch: 606-200-01-22
Bolts (fan to fan clutch): N-914020-006017

Benz dealer part #'s
000912-010078 (screw)
606-200-00-22 (fan drive)
606-200-00-23 (fan blade)
914020-006017 (screw)
124-500-98-03 (radiator)

That is the 99 300E part isnt it? If so, that is what I am using.

The '86+ clutch. :)

speedy300Dturbo 12-17-2006 01:33 AM

Actually, the 1998-1999 E300 Turbodiesel fan clutch is $30-40 cheaper than the M103 part, if you're buying new.

Hit Man X 12-17-2006 01:39 AM

Cool. I wasn't aware. Even better cost. :)

Now there is no excuse for a 603 melt down. :D

LOL! I like how the 1998-1999 E300DT plastic fan has 11 blades. I'm sure it's less of a load to pull than the ultra heavy stock 9 blade metal fan, and probably circulates more air. Less likely to chop off your finger too. ;)

Oh yeah, I have the plastic fan. Too bad there aren't any I'm aware of for the M116/7 motors. :(

Biglex 12-17-2006 06:02 PM

I couldnt believe the fan was cast. a car like that I would have assumed the fan would have been aluminum. Nevertheless, I got the plastic 11 blade fan. Still lookin for the radiator though. :(
