Front seal

Easy enough procedure, the problem is gaining access. You can purchase a CD-ROM from Repairflix.com on the subject. I have it, a friend has done it, I'll need to do it. If I could figure out how to send you a copy, you wouldn't need to buy.

There is someone (**************?) on fleabay selling the "kit", which has the seal and what looks like a contraption to hammer it in with. If anyone has any experience with this particular kit, please chime in.

I'm fairly sure the engine and trans have to come out and be separated to replace the rear main
and I think I read somewhere here that the crank has to come out as well
this is why most people with rear main leaks just live with it

The rear seal on the 617 is a rope seal cut in two parts. To replace it you have to remove the engine from the car, take off the top oil pan and you will have to remove the crank to get to the other half of the seal. With all that potential work, you probably should be thinking of a complete engine overhaul.
