Anyone know what is wrong with this wagon, besides
the non existing ROAD RUST?

Note the pic that shows a 4-cylinder, he says in the q&a that it's the wrong pic.

That interior is beat, especially the carpet. Looks like it has a serious leak (sunroof?) or worse yet, a salvaged flood car.

Right rear door would be expensive to repair, but for the right price...

Looks like a parts car to me.

what about the Q/A that says the interior is clean? HAHHAHA its absolutly filthy, i wouldnt even seat in it without some sort of protection

Says its inspected, but it has no stickers or plates.
The right side of the hood is way off wack. the same front headlight assembly is pushed in towards the grill.
That car is filthy.

Actually, I like the 280sl for sale in colorado with snow tires on front and back and owner says, 'never driven in snow' yeah, oh yeah.

CA does not do inspection and there is a rear plate with a registration sticker of some type. CA requires stickers on both sides of the plate, but this one looks like it only has one sticker. Probably just has expired registration, most likely this owner got from a field, got it running and doesn't want to register it in his name so he can avoid paying taxes on it.

It has no road rust...I wonder what kind it does have? Are there different types...Maybe it is california rust. Or earthquake rust? Hmmmm

the spots on the seats look as if they could be cleaned up mold. it could be an ok car but i wouldnt buy it without a personal inspection. if it is full of mold you wouldnt be able to drive it without getting sick.

mold would be a possibility if it has been flooded.

if it has been flooded a lot of electrical stuff could be bad, but mechanically it could be just fine.

there is a reason that such a basically straight car has not been repaired after being hit.

also i looks as if it has been painted with the rust at the edges of the sunroof.

Just looks plain dirty to me. Maybe he used his wagon to you know, haul stuff. Thats what wagons are for. He didn't try to hide the nasty spots like some other ebayers out there. The nasty rust spots are in plain view. Not like he priced it at 10K either.

Road rust= rust from salted roads, as opposed to suface rust from wear,age & scrapes. (I grew up in Calif so i understand)
Beach rust or coastal rust are other types.

California has a SMOG inspection.

I don't see anything wrong with the listing myself; it's not a pristine car and makes no claims as such.

I guess no road rust is a qualification. The car is a rust bucket just from looking at the photos. It looks pretty beat to me. Maybe worth $1,500.

I second the fishy claim.
the grooves in the front seat MB tex are full of gunk AFTER it has been cleaned, notice the armor all spray bottle in the pic.
odd about the 4cyl pic. also notice the engine compartment has Oil residue all over it, and the insulation on the a/c pipe is gone and the valve caps are gone... Maybe it's just a belt gone from the compressor... mmm hmm...
I have been recovering an SD from the field for over a year, stuff still failing and hard to get it repaired. electronics very damaged...
I am sure there is more mess under the carpets from the pics. I vote for this car as a motor pull. parts car only. mold can be deadly IF you are allergic to it.
