sounds to me like your radio is getting it's ground through the antenna wire....possibly have a missing or poor ground on the actual ground wire....not sure about this, but it sure sounds like that to me.

That makes so much sense that it must be true.
Can you tell me the location of the ground for the radio so i do't have to tear the entire dash apart?

yep look about 6 inches below where you disconnected the antena. there is a bolt with 5 or 6 brown wires. those are the ground wires. the run down the kick panel on the drivers side to the under dash area.

i had a short for the longest time that blew the #15 fues. i found that someone had installed an aftermarket antenna and had cross wired some wires. blow i have no power antenna and a hand full of wires that i had to cut apart and individuly wrap up... someday i'll get a new antenna and sort it all out.
