Pump up sprayer as a degreaser

Thought I would pass this along to others. I have started to try and fix some of the many oil leaks on my 300D, (so far the turbo return, and the oil cooler lines). I thought it would be good to clean the 22 years of gunky buildup from the motor to help find the rest of my leaks. I had an old pump up sprayer (cheap plastic kind I used to stain a wood fence last year) I filled it with diesel fuel and sprayed the engine down, it works pretty well, it has a long tip that allows it to be stuck down in hard to reach areas. I will hose it off after letting it dissolve some of the crud from the motor. I may buy some of the gallon containers of degreaser if the diesel dosen't cut it. Then look for more oil leaks.

Mike

Kerosene is a better solvent than diesel...
I like the degreasers, and a good stiff brush. the best is of course the pressure washer I got...

Yes, that sprayer will work. I use the very same thing with degreaser in a sprayer for my business.

I have been doing that for decades....
I suggest Kerosene mixed with Gunk Concentrate... at the recommended rate of one gallon to nine... but I only mix up a couple of gallons at a time and keep the lid on the unmixed cans on tight... lasts for years ....and is the cheapest stuff I have found.
I also suggest that each time you get through with spraying that you wash out the sprayer... if may last for years without washing it out.. or it may not work the next month all depending on the types of gaskets and stuff used in it... triple rinse with what you wash dishes in.. spraying much of it out through the wand of course..
