W115 300D: 617 Turbo possible?

haven't had time to measure, since taking delivery of a 1976 300D with a wounded motor... but can the vaunted 617.952 go in here? I'm thinking something may need to be changed re: oil filter housing, but what about the manifold side of the motor?

What a car! Would like it even better with the power of my 300SD (not literally, that SD's never being dismantled!)

the things that are different is where i would look for interference:
turbo clearance, oil filter to booster, ac compressor to subframe.

the 115s are pretty narrow in there. if you put the battery in the trunk you may help yourself out too.

it will fit with enough effort and money but at what cost?

i'm rooting for you.

The oil filter housing will interfere with the steering linkage.

I've seen an adapter plate made for an OM617 to remotely mount the filter housing. It would not be much harder to use a different filter body and mount it in a convenient location.

617 van oil filters point down and backwards. Perhaps one of those might fit.

so, you can't heal the wounds? :(

I have read lots of posts concerning such projects (a W123 turbodiesel in a W115) but I was wondering if someone had actually done it? And how did it turn out?
