I installed rear headrests in my 300D

I took the headrests and slider tracks out of two junk front seats and installed them in my back seat on my 84 300D. They look great and feel very nice. I wish they could be farther forward, but I do not see how I could do this without interfering with the comfort of the rear seat. Installing the tracks required cutting the two support bars and drilling a few holes, making 2 Z brackets and a few C clips. I am very happy with the results. If anyone wants me to put a DIY kit together so that you can install them in your car, let me know. I am not sure of a price yet, but if anyone is interested let me know.

Wow! Very nice! I may have to do this my self. I have a spare set of seats and headrests...

Any close-ups of the brackets and mounting? Would the kit just include these custom brackets?

kit would include everything. headrests, rails, brackets, C-clips, hardware and instructions.

looks great, but they seem to sit too far back to do any actual head restin'. I'd have to test it to confirm, where do you live...

I'll just take a set of brackets please. :D

The older "horned" style tilt forward for maximum head restage.

You'll need these, from rear headrests off of a w126 or w116. For the w123, sedans and coupes had the bent rods like shown below, but the wagons seem to have the standard front headrests similar to the rear headrests.

The cushions swap easily, and are the same front to back.

The color and texture is different from the 126/124 models, but may be similar to the 201 should you want to get headrests of similar color from those cars.

FYI, MB already sells the kits for these cars. They go for $62 each (you'll need 2). The list price may be $80 but that's just dealer mark up, should they tell you that.

Left is for coupe/sedan, right is for wagon:
