FSM on W126 rotor replacement

I have the FSM CD's and it does not appear that there is a doc on here on how to change the brake calipers and rotors. Just trying to figure out what replacement hardware I need, I read somewhere to replace the locking nuts? But I dont know what MM they are and well also wondering about the other hardware associated with it.

Thanks,
T

Same as everything it's pretty much common sense. You unbolt the calipres to remove them. And then bleed the brakes when you're done. The rotors involve pulling the disc/rotor/hub assemblies and then separating the rotors from the hubs - again common sense. But dont be afraid to bash the old rotors with a sledge hammer to remove em from the hubs after umbolting the 8 or so allen bolts. Thats what it took for mine.

Tools needed. Impact wrench, PB Blaster penetrant - really, use ONLY this stuff!
it works. BLUE Locktite paste in the antipersprant type dispenser, and some brake cleaner spray, maybe even a large wire brush to clean off the surface rust. 8MM allen socket to fit the impact wrench assorted flare/line wrenches to fit the brake line and 17mm i think to remove the two caliper bolts. and a mini sledge to seperate rotor AFTER all the allen head bolts are out.

Are you sure that it's an 8mm Allen?? I have never done a W126 but on a W123 those are 10mm......and there are Torque Values, 115Nm for the allen bolts.....according to MB Technical Data Passenger Cars W107, W123, and W126 have the same Torque Values for that Allen Bolt....so it would be a safe assumption that the Allen Bolts are the same size.......

Also, not mentioned in this thread, but something that I found useful......if you reattach the brake disc/hub assembly to the tire/wheel with about 3 of the Lug Bolts.....it will make life easier when you are loostening/tightening those Allen Bolts......gives you something to hold on to.....

I would also recommend cleaning, inspecting, and repacking the Wheel Bearings......you will need to replace the Wheel Bearing Seals when you do this.......
