The latest project in the ongoing saga.
I just got really bored (everyone went outta town, even the GF) so I pulled the cluster in my 240D, scanned the gauge faces and photoshopped up some new ones. I used the off white beige-ish color that the new W211 E class uses. Other than just changing the colors, I added a temp and gas logo, rather than the Temp and Tank designations, and changed the clock to only show 12-3-6-9.
I can email the files if anyone wants them. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g3...Picture047.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g3...Picture046.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g3...Picture045.jpg I'm sure some people out there will hate these, or call them rice, but I like em. -Zach |
Aside from moving the fuel pump logo to the left of the gauge sweep, I like it.

did you use regular paper or some high quality stuff?
i think if you use orange and black instead of the blue it would be sweet |
I just printed it on regular paper for now (kind of a trial, probably going to redo them, I'm insane, most of my projects have like 3 stages at least). I wanted to do the KPH in orange, but the problem was (being kind of a pshop newb) is when I inverted the colors (easiest way to get the colors right) the orange turned to blue. If I do redo them I'm going to change the location of the gas pump logo like dubyagee suggested, change the blue to orange or red and print them on some higher quality cardstock or matte photopaper.

If you printed these on an inkjet printer, ensure that you are using archival ink. Otherwise the sunlight will fade the colors rather quickly.
To see the effect, print two of these. Leave one in a dark location, so you can compare it to your dash, or to another printed paper left in the car where it won't be disturbed. The glass windows will filter some of the UV light, but not all of it, and not much of the visible light. A color laser printer may be more stable, but possibly not. |
im pretty decent with pshop.. email me the file and ill work on it for you.. even make it a little better if you want...
|
I think it looks nice but I wouldn't give you 50c for the files.
|
IMHO, leave it stock.
|
I hate it, and it looks like rice!!! :)
|
well, some may like it and some may hate it, but on this forum, we charge for parts rarely, and we tend to offer help and such for free... if you plan on charging money, might I suggest charging for finished decals... not just your file.
John oh, and since you included the vdo logo, you may be in violation of copyright or something if you charge for your file... |

IMO, seems greedy to charge for a simple PSD file. This isn't the Mercedes Entrepreneur forum. |
Go easy on him. Judging by Mommy and Daddy's car in his sig. he is a youngster. Such wisdom will come in time, although I'm still waiting for mine.....:silly:
