I love Bosio Nozzles!!!
I finally got around to ordering new injector nozzles for my SD. I decided I'd try the Bosios from DieselGiant, since I've read the horror stories about the Bosch remans.
Before: Typical light diesel smoke upon start up. Sluggish off the line, but not that bad. (ALDA has been turned up) Light nailing from idle up to 2500 rpm After: Almost no diesel smoke upon start up No where near sluggish anymore, even when cold. Very light nailing only at idle. Which I've heard is supposed to go away after a few hunderd miles of "breaking them in". Much more power. In short I would recomend the Bosio injector nozzles to anyone who has the original nozzles in their car. They breathed new life into my motor and gave me power that I never knew I had. You will not be dissappointed. Best $180 I've spent on the car.

It's occurred before. Can't comment on how common it is. Trying to gather more info from folks who have made the switch.
I'm contemplating it for the SD. I believe it's got some injector issues that I can't seem to resolve. |

Thats what was happenign with me. I've done 3 diesel purges since I've had the car, March, and the nailing always seems to come back. It took me 2 hours to do all of them. I honestly did not think that they would make that much of a difference since I did not think my injectors were that bad but I was sorely mistaken. If you do decide do use Bosio nozzles, I can garantuee (sp) that you will not be dissappointed.

Our '83 has them, it took about 500 miles to break them in, but they are incredible now. Engine is smooth, very powerful, very little smoke, and lunges with tons of power off idle...much better than with the old nozzles. I am contemplating putting them on my car as well at some point as mine has become sorta sluggish off the line and smokes more, though it could just be my secondary filter and valves....I'll be replacing/adjusting those very soon, so we'll see what that does.
As for temps, it runs at 80-81C 95% of the time, and has never gotten above 85 under any driving or outside temp conditions....same as with the old nozzles. None of them leaked upon installation either....and haven't since.

Hey Brian,
I am sure that any leaking issues would be caused from an improper sealing on the threads due to improperly cleaned and not tightened enough. I wonder if anyone knows a good place in the Boston area who can do a pop test?

Like what I've heard so far, am considering doing this next season, will keep an eye here..... Don't know what nailing is.

I put the Bozio's in about a month ago. Big improvement on start up smoke and idle(at first). Man are these things noisy! I've driven it over a thousand miles and the nailing hasn't gone down any. The rough idle has come back especially when cold. I think my old wagon is just getting tired. Any ideas why the nailing has persisted?

I pulled out my original Bosch injectors just last week and tested them on my homemade pop tester that I made out of a grease gun.
They all sprayed a perfect stream and popped at the right pressure. The only problem I found was one dribbler that was corrected when I disassembled it and cleaned it out. Now it's running great. I don't see how spending $180 on Bosio nozzles can make it any better. I think that if more people would take the time to clean them as stated in the FSM they wouldn't waste money. Unless of course you have it to throw away. Danny

The leaking issues are caused by the two sections failure to seat properly. They are lapped to a 2 micron finish and it's the quality of the finish that prevents the leak. You can torque them until they snap, and, if the surface finish is not absolutely perfect, they can leak.
