need seat springs

I have an 83 300d and the front springs are shot. both sides.very uncomfy. Now SWMBO refuses to ride in it till they are repaired/ replaced. Are these still made?
any links where they can be ordered?
I have looked around for other seats and found nothing but more of the same......soft springs on outboard side.
will other seats (beside 123's) fit?

Do a search on "pool noodles".

example:
seat + pool noodles = bloody hands

I know the drivers side has a (1) broken spring outboard side so I will try the collar idea on it. but....pass sid is weak too on the outboard side with no broken springs......I think the pool noodle might buy me some time

I've done the pool noodle thing on the driver's seat of the 85TD but I find it has made the seat too stiff for comfortable long distance driving.

The pool noodle fix is only temporary. It will make your back hurt in the long run, as it removes the spring-y feeling and makes it more stiff than it should be. The key is to have the springs firm enough to dampen vehicle movement and a good padding to support you properly. Pool noodles will remove the dampening effect and hence, a backache.

I agree with the above 2 posts, as my pool noodled seats are very firm. I have noticed this more since I got the 240, which has really soft seats with good springs.
I will never be able to throw that kind of $$$$ at a new spring assy, so I guess we need to come up with something better.

Anyone........... anyone..........Bueller..........

Will 115 seats fit on a 123 track? Someone has a pair of 115 front seats for sale on Ebay the right color for my 85 TD. They're in better shape than mine so if they fit my track, I'd consider bidding on them. The 115's only appear to slide front to back and not also up and down. But if they'd bolt to the 123 slider's they might work????

Try World upholstery for rebuilt springs.

I just put an order in a couple days ago for rebuilt drivers seat springs. I think it was about $252. I think it is a good investment, I plan to keep my Mercedes for a long time. I could install it myself if I wanted to.
Call World upholstery 1800-222-9577 or web: worlduph.com

They do charge shipping but their prices were reasonable compared to their competitor, GAHH.com However, GAHH.com has better price on the rubberized front seat cushion, I think it was $92 each and no shipping charge if you order online.
Hope that helps. Cheers,
Frankie

I found some seats from an 89 420 SEL to use to rebuild the seats in my 84 500SEL. The new seats had what looks like foam rubber inserts in the front coil springs. I was told by an upholstry shop that that is an add-on avalible from upholstry supply houses. These seats are very comfortable. The foam is not as stiff as the pool thingers but add the support needed. It may be possible to make something like this from foam rolled up and tied and then inserted into the springs. Just a thought.
