Remember, on turbos, oil is also used for active cooling of pistons, its supposed to take the heat from the crown area away, considering that, some oils which are more prone to volatility would tend to evaporate quickly as compared to others, I use Delo 400 for which I have virtually no top ups between oil changes, summer or winters, however, I once used Castrol RX Super Plus and needed top ups every 1500KM, even with Delvac I needed no top ups. So it also depends on the type of oil used.

Brands of oil are so important my boat will burn away a gallon a day of Rotella but the vehicles run the best on it
Also most of these cars (without leaks) will burn more oil as the oil gets older with viscosity breakdown Hence no consumption first 3000 miles 2 quarts last 2000 miles per earlier post Not being a purist a quart of Lucas goes into any moving part i own

I agree with da Cap'n.....
Shell Rotella T.....15W40 non-synthetic.....
I change oil/filter every 3000 miles.....my car uses less than .5 Ltr per oil change......from full on dipstick to about 1/3 down between marks......no leaks at all!! My tractor gets an oil change, and filter cleaning, every year.....have never had to add oil between changes....also Rotella T....a few minor leaks to prevent rust!! Amongst the boating, fishing, marine folks there are Delo 400 folks, and Rotella T folks......arguments can get lively..... SB
