There is a car tax each year in Virginia, based on an assessed value that is in turn based on the NADA book. But the NADA book they use only goes back 20 years. If your vehicle is older than 20 years, then the base assessment of value is used, $250.

Fortunately there was car tax relief legislation a few years back that exempts the first $1000 of valuation from the car tax.

So, my MB fleet runs tax free!

They just don't expect many cars to last 20 years........
