Injector still leaking

I'm wondering if this is why my engine runs ruff on startups and has begun to become very noisy and smoke like no tomorrow. After replacing the fuel lines, it's still leaking a good amount of diesel. It's coming from the middle of the injector. Should I just invest in a new one?

Thanks everyone.

If you can't or don't feel like taking it apart, yes.

Inspect the nipples on the offending injectors, if you cut off the old line you may have nicked it.

If it really is leaking between the lower Injector Nut and the upper body you can remove the Injector and torque it again (I do not know the torque). You if you have enough room and a Large Enough Open end wrench you can do the same without removing the Injector by holding the lower Injector Nut with the Open End Wrench.

I think the older Engines use a Copper Crush Washer to seal the end of the Injector to the Prechamber. The make Copper and Aluminum Crush Washer replacements.

If torqueing it again does not solve the problem it could be that the lower Injector nut has developed a hair line crack. It also could be that the Injector will have to come out of the Engine and the Injector taken apart and the interior flate surfaces lapped flat again before it is reassembled.

Also if your IP has an Pnumatic Governor (you will have a Butterfly Valve in your Manifold and a Vacuum Line going to the Governor) the Diaphragms on the Pneumatic Governors get stiff over time. There is also a hole or passage (I cannot remember which) that I have seen get restricted due to the Aluminum corroding and effects the Governor preformance.
