What should I ask the seller?
http://sandiego.craigslist.org/car/252244788.html
This is my dream - it's a 300CD, it's not a "neutral" color like Manila Beige, and the miles aren't too low. What should I look for? Keep in mind I'm relatively new to the diesel Benz world, but I'm enchanted by these German tanks. |

Ask about overall condition. Looks to be low miles and photos show a nice car. Ask about receipts for history (to prove the low mileage, not as big a deal here because not a really high price), AC, mechanicals, recent work done and if he knows of anything it needs. I'd ask for some more pictures and then just go and check it out if you can. Next comes an inspection and then you are set. That sure is a pretty looking coupe.

I've got one similar, paid $10,000 3,4 years ago. Had 83,000 miles, now has 116,000. Calmly heed others advice, then JUMP ON IT, AND ENJOY!

When I'm buying an older Benz, I judge the car by the seller, and you judge the seller by talking to him in depth to get a feel for how he is and how probably treats his machines.
In this case, however, BUY THAT CAR - IT'S A REAL GOOD DEAL.

I'd see if air conditioning is working, as it shows/takes effort to keep the AC going on these things.
Also look for condition of front end components. (suspension stuff) That is fairly pricey work to have done. I'm not a W123 coupe person, so I won't offer any buying advise.....

History of the vehicle as far back as possible thats where I'd start. Find out who has owned and driven it, hence how it's been maintained.
