Hood Pad Adhesive
 
Howdy Folks:

Glad New Year to all :

About to replace a hood pad on W123 - 85 3ooD turbo

I see from search there have been a few options

First i ask about the adhesive - they i will ask about where people got there's

mostly I am interested in the hood pads with the aluminium flashing round the turbo inlet

I buy the 3M heavy duty glue. Comes in a spray can, last digits 090. I get it at AutoZoo. Put the hood straight up and cover everything with a big plastic sheet. Scrape the old stuff off with plastic putty knife (three pak at walmart).
test fit the new pad to be sure how it is going to fit. I like to spray one half (left or right) on the ground and spray matching part of hood. Let sit a few minutes and then carefully position. Press down whole side with hands. Spray other half of pad and hood and slowly roll on the second half. Amazing how good a new hood pad looks.
I use the factory hood pads. They seem better to me. YMMV.

Big Box Office supply stores carry it in their art departments too.

Drap everything or you'll be removing overspray for days.:eek:

Sure do. In storage right now till I can get the injector pump rebuilt- Love it...
That and my 85 Cherokee Td powered by Renault 2.1L J8S turbo diesel- 2 of the most sophistcated Diesels to hit the USA shores in the mid 80's

I am running 100% B99 in all my running diesels
