OEM or Febi?

I notice Fastlane lists two rear regulators one for $111, and one for about $50. Any thoughts on quality? I am going to replace mine for the second time, and I can't remember if I went with the cheaper one the first time, that may be my answer. I also can't remember whether I used cheapo Habor Frieght rivets or bolts, but that might be my problem too.

The eBay version was ~$50. I'll get the more expensive one when I fix mine and hope for twice as much (50 uses) longevity.

There is a lot of twisting and torque whihc is why MB uses such heavy rivets. SS screws and double nuts worked for me. I know MattL tapped the hole and did away with the nuts when he did his and is still working fine as well.

It's weird that MB would use such heavy-duty rivets for long-term durability, but completely overlook the cable pulleys and use cheap plastic there.

I noticed the price difference as well. The cheap one is made by Febi which sounds to me like an OEM manufacturer. The other one lists no manufacturer but it looks identical if the catalog pictures are correct. I see no reason to go with the more expensive one.

Regarding window synchronization, my MB only has the auto-down feature, not auto-up. I've replaced the battery on both of my cars and never did any window synchronization (my Jetta has both auto-up and auto-down) and I haven't noticed any issues.

I received my new window regulators, the cheaper ones made by Febi. They have both Made in Germany and Made in China stickers. That's probably why they're cheaper, but given the quality of the original parts, how much worse can it get? It'll be a while before I install them. I bought them mainly just in case I want to sell the car. Other than that I don't really have a use for the rear windows.

FYI - Mine does auto up and down on 4 windows.
