Pretty sharp ebay listing

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1985-MERCEDES-300D-TURBODIESEL-AMAZING-COND-150PIX_W0QQitemZ230074390138QQihZ013QQcategoryZ6330QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Can't tell real well, but there seems to be a lot of orange on the rear deck lid just above the tail lights .

Nonetheless, I like the color combo on this one. Will be interesting to see what it goes for.

BTW - IMHO, it could lose the sunroof deflector and add $ to its value!

The left gauge is incorrect for a 1985 300D. I wonder what the story is behind that?

What if the original owner requested their gauges be english at the dealer?

No, that is an old guage as it still has the chrome "dot" in the center.

I can't say I've ever seen Barolo Red, and I'd love a little closer picture of all those wonderful swirls. I look forward to seeing the final price...

Yeah I don't know! I do remember noticing that when I was plodding through the gazillion pics!

Still...it's a nice looking car that has undoubtedly been seriously detailed and paint touched up below the mid trim.

Doesn't that gearing seem a little long for a 300D (even an '85)? 2500 rpm for 61mph...

That's an impressive car, the seller could give lessons on taking good photos for an ad. But he's wrong about the million miler car in the MB museum, that one is a W115.

And I like Zack's W123 300D euro more, it is a MANUAL!!

this car was repainted right? it might just be me but the paint in the door jams are of a brighter tone then the paint on the outside. OR the sun darkend the color.

But my guess is it was repainted as there is a paint bubble that he pointed out and i doubt MB let that pass through without being fixed. Either way its a nice looking car!

Exclamation Looks like a nice car.....

Just a couple of questions/comments.....

How rare is that color of red?? I think I have seen several.....a friend of mine has a 300TD in that color....

Why is the 2.88 rear supposed to be so rare?? From what I can tell ALL 1985 W123.133 (USA/Japanese version 300D-T) and all 1985 W123.193 (300TD-T) came with that rear end......would love to find one in limited slip though.....

I thought those 15 hole alloy wheels were standard on a 300D (240D has the hubcaps)......

And don't those photos look kinda artsy like that guy in Tampa used to post with his overpriced stuff??

Need more pictures and they need to be larger. Not sure if anyone is actually still on dialup, but they must be loving that link.

I'd say so. Look at the orange peel under the 300D badge on the trunk. Def not factory.

Update!

For those who are interested...

It sold for $8700!

(If I didn't like mine so well I'd go get a "franchise Paint shop" job on mine and sell her! On ebay, of course!)
