pics of old style 60x vacuum pump
2 Attachment(s)
I don't recall pics being posted so here goes.
First pic shows the bearing with 6 balls in a cage. Second pic shows the bearing with 6 balls but no cage (same pump, other side). I don't know why the cage disintegrated but obviously it did. I wonder how long before those 6 balls sneak out and cause indigestion for the timing chain  I don't have a pic of a new style pump but the bearing has shields so you can't see the balls. once my W2 comes in and i get my money from turbo tax im going to buy the updated one. I still have the old one in there:eek:
Can you show a pic of where the pump goes so i know what ill have to do to remove and install the updated part. |
I can't find a good picture.
Basically you remove the fan, remove the belt, remove the belt tensioner, remove the old vacuum pump, then put everything back. Convince yourself to remove the radiator to clean it. You'll save a bunch of skin on your knuckles and minimize the risk of damaging the radiator. Sixto 93 300SD |

Speedy, what engine is the with black manifold runners? Looks like a 12 valve head with 24 valve intake manifold. That's a heck of a mess just to have EGR. And where's the valve cover breather line? Maybe it's under the crossover pipe feeding directly into the plenum. Also no idler pulley above the vacuum pump. Only used with AC? No center nut on the oil filter cover so it isn't out of a 124 or 140. On closer look there are only 2 runners ahead of the crossover pipe. Maybe is a 601 or 602 or 2.9 liter 602 variant.

Sixto, that picture is one of those weird OM601 variants. The first picture below is the 2.9L OM602, the second picture is an oddball OM602 modified to fit into the Vito, and the third picture is something I wish I had.
