Big Battery Upgrade 240D
I was just wondering if this would be a good upgrade for my 240D.
http://www.kinetikaudio.com/hc2000.asp I currently have about 900W's in the audio system, and rather than adding second battery I was wondering if this would work. It says that it can replace your existing battery, and I figure since my current battery is about 1000amps. They claim that it would not be too much strain for the alternator to handle. "Will adding a Kinetik High Current Power Cell to my system overload my alternator? Adding a Kinetik High Current Power Cell to your system will not overload the alternator. The internal resistance of our power cells is very low and does not significantly increase the overall load on the electrical system. Of course replacing your existing wet cell battery with a Kinetik Power Cell and adding additional Kinetik Power Cells is always recommended over mixing battery technologies in the same vehicle. Power cells with the same ESR values and technology will charge evenly and supply balanced power to your system for maximum life and performance." Any information or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -Zach

spend the money for an upgrade alternator.
Only about $120 if you do the install. Upgrade all your wiring. |

I have upgraded the alternator, but it's still only 70 amps. $120, WOW, my 70 amp cost like 180 plus shipping from fastlane. I can get this battery also for about 230$ Thanks for the advice, and for any further advice, I'm just unsure of where to go from here. Before I add more wattage, I want to make sure everything can handle it. -Zach

-Andy, I just checked out your pics, and saw your alternator wiring, would you care to explain to a noob how you did that? Is that 4 gauge wire, or thicker? I have a lot of questions. My alt wiring was changed to 10 Gauge. Any help you could offer to a fellow 17 year old (I guess were not alone) would be greatly appreciated.

That battery is WAY overpriced. Stick the biggest Optima, Concord, Hawker or other AGM battery that will fit and you won't be able to tell the differance in sound but your wallet will be fatter. That battery is probably just a re-labled Concord AGM battery.

Hell yeah it looks too darned expensive. For less then $50 you can run cables to the trunk and build a battery bank that will triple your existing battery capacity.
