Fuel Pump Question
On the fuel pump directly under the fuel inlet is a bolt. Is this bolt an access to some sort of screen or strainer that could possibly be clogged?
Thanks for your replies in advance. |

The 617.95 service manual makes no mention of the big hex on the fuel pump.
But your engine might not be a 617. |

What car do you have? but the answer is probably still "no screen" There may be one in the tank however.

Sorry for not mentioning the type of engine.
The car is a 1982 240D. |

Those little pumps attached to the IP seldom give any problem. I would check and clean the tank screen located above the supply line, passenger side of tank. If those hoses haven't been changed they may be "weeping" and should be changed anyway. There are two on the other side of the tank to check also. they can drip fuel on your axle boot if bad so take a look at that side too.
