Wanted: front license plate bracket

My wife got me a nice flat black with chrome emblem plate for the front of the car. One problem...I don't have a bracket. And there aren't any on ebay. If any members here have one sitting around, I'd love to take it off your hands for an acceptable price. Also, if anyone knows where I can actually order one, that would also be appreciated. So far I've only been able to find them for newer Benz's.
Thanks!

I have a brand new one I bought back in '99 and it has been on the shelf since. Do you know the MB part number of the one you need? I'll check the number on mine tomorrow when I get to the shop and let you know what it is.

from a 240d

Not sure if the one from my 1983 240d would fit your car? (US spec).
If it would, you can have it for shipping. (It's rusted and not pretty but functional. Guess you wouldn't see it behind the plate?)

Man, I've been searching the internet. I can't even find anyone selling one, nevermind a part number! What chassis did you buy it for? If it's a w126 we're in business. I submitted a query with europarts.com, so maybe I'll get a part number from them. I'll measure the distance between the holes tomorrow. Maybe that will do. If it fits, how much you want for it? Feel free to pm me.

It seems like this would be a fairly common problem in states that require front plates. Mine came with one when I brought it up from Texas and I mounted a euro plate to it.

I am searching for one too... MB dealer wants $118, here it is $109. I am hoping someone has one in good shape that they'd be willing to part with for a little less. Anyone? PM me... thanks!

Since you guys were talking about those plate brackets, I went out and checked my cars, 3 parts cars and two in "waiting" (for engines, interior/whatever) they all have missing or badly buggered ones. Also my two "keepers" have brackets in less than perfect condition. Since they are so vulnerable hanging down there, it might be possible to make one up. I like to only use OEM but they are outa sight and apt to get crunched again

the part number for the front plate bracket for my car, an 83 300SD, is
126 817 0211.

I'm not sure if the w123 is compatible with the w126. Anyone know?
