-Besides engine, what is difference under hood between '84 123 diesel and 123 gasser?

Hi!

I just hit a deer last night and now I'm contemplating the feasibilty of keeping my 300D. A friend of mine just mentioned his desire to sell his Euro gasoline w123 1984 (i don't know what the model is named) for parts as his engine is seized up. I'm wondering if anyone out there knows enough about both types to know what is interchangible. If so would you please reply?

I'm sure I'll need a radiator and fan assembly, probably an oil cooler.

And I'm planning on using his hood and grill and headlight assemblies. Amazingly enough though I hit the deer going at least 50 mph I managed to avoid damaging either front fender. The hood is messed up enough that I can't open it yet. I have not had the chance to look too closely at the damage in the engine compartment.

Very soon after I hit the sucker I saw an autobody shop by the road. That's where the car is sitting now. Convienient for getting an estimate!

Thanks for your time and input.

Jeff

No 123 gassers were offered by MB in the US in 84. It would either be a 230E or 280E. Body and frame parts should bolt right up if it's sedan to sedan. Engine and cooling parts probably won't other than the fan and clutch. I don't think those gassers have oil coolers.

Forgot to mention that bumpers and headlights are different between US/Canadian and non-US/Canadian cars. The parts are generally interchangeable but your car might look different.

right now the main concern is the radiator - and whether or not the mounts are the same. i have to get new ones welded on.
