Fastlane shows 4 different vacuum pump repair kits for the 77 300d. Does anyone know how to figure out which one I need. They all look quite different.

Because you said you saw oil coming up the line when you connected the speedy to the shutoff valve, I am more inclined to think the diaphragm in the shutoff actuator is getting spongy. I replaced my actuator recently as the engine wasn't shutting down, and took the old actuator apart (curiosity), oil had come through the diaphragm to the top side. Yes, the oil is coming from inside the injector pump.
20" of vacuum is a little bit low, but still pretty good. I was indicating 22" and after I changed the actuator, all is fine.
Any oil that may have gotten into your line would eventually go back towards the pump, not necessarily toward the booster.

Thanks Gears, I actually performed this repair some time ago. I did in fact use the how-to to make sure I didn't create a runaway engine situation. All went well and it shuts down as it should!
