What is it and what is it for?
I apologize for no pic, and since I don't know what it is I can't do a search. On the drivers side of my 85 300d turbo there is something that looks similiar to a canister with a valve stem on top. It has a hose or tube about the size of the fuel line coming off the top but is looped back into itself at the bottom, so basically it appears to serve no purpose since its not hooked up to anything. Can someone please tell me what it is and is supposed to do. Thanks!

It's hard to say! Could you take a pic and post it here? That could give us something to go on!

it sounds like it could be a disabled cruise control actuator...but again, with no pic it's hard to say with all the different combinations of options and emissions setups.

I'll try and get a pic on in the next day or so, not sure if I still have the cable from the camera to the computer.

Could it be a water separator?
