Don't you love it when people look at your car?

I have a lot of time, money, and even some blood (literally!:D ) into the SDL at this point. Maybe I am vein but I just love it when Mercedes and even regular car people come up to me or my car at random times and compliment it. At work I park it so I can watch it and I see a lot of people do the double take. Some even walk around it and check it out. A number of times I have had people actualy come looking for the owner. They just wanted to check it out, or buy it. This is also with crap paint, with new paint look out!:D My SDL would have probably been run into the ground and junked by now if it wasn't for me. She was 90% of the way there when I dug her out of the snow and mud three years ago almost to the day.

I am sure you guys probably have some good stories as well!

i like it. i often get business cards on my window with the 240D at least 1 time a week. my best time was when i had my exaust replaced on it and washed it. i was driving down town and a man was walking accross the street, i waved him threw and as he was jogging across, he started to slow down and pulled down his sun glasses to get a better look. I have also put alot of time and alot of money into the car. i have put more than double what i originally paid for the car into it. but i love my 240.

Hattie, you have a vein or two in your body. Whether that makes you VAIN or not is a different story. :D

To answer your question: A conditional YES. YES only if the are good looking females and want a ride and promise to ride me next.

On vacation in Gold Beach Oregon with a carload of people, I got the kind of attention I could do without.

A young State Trooper in an unmarked white Camaro gave me a ticket :greedy: for doing 73 in a 55 mph highway, 4 lanes in each direction.

The California plates and the "Beverly Hills Ltd.- Mercedes Benz" dealer license plate frames on the car probably didn't help, either.

gahhhh

I stopped at a truck stop last month on I 10 in Fla. As I was preparing to
go in and pay for my fuel, a father and son passed, at which time I heard
the father say. Thats a Mercedes 300.....one of the best cars ever made.
yep, it puts a smile on yer face:cool:

I always fill my wife's E300 for her. We both work in the same town and a short distance from each other. (unfortunately, other circumstances greatly limit our ability to car pool) One day after I had fillered her car at noon and brought it back I was walking back to my 1981 300D. I was just about to the car and a man drove doing a serious rubber neck to check out my 300D. I thought the his neck was going to snap or that he would run in to a parked car. Just wait until I get Miss Margaret back from getting repainted. Then there will be some neck snapping.

You can get away with that in Beverly Hills ?
With attitude like that no wonder you got busted.

Yes, I'm guessing that going more than 30% over the posted limit had more to do with getting a ticket than what kind of license plate frame you had on your car.

I've gotten a ticket in a rusted, crapped out VW Rabbit as well as a mint MB. I doubt the kind of car you drive makes the slightest bit of differenc.

Ha, that was going to be my response... I like to think that my car looks pretty nice, but I'm biased. I was having fun last night on my way home on the expressway. Traffic was really moving (probably close to 80 - my speedo's broke), and I would floor it whenever I found a good gap in traffic, leaving a nice plume of smoke behind me. It feels good to put the engine through it's paces and give it a nice italian tune-up everyonce in a while. The pick-up is pretty impressive at that speed. I baby it most of the time.

My 84 300 d with turbo is going to get the euro specs if everything works out,the original gold paint needs a respray but the interiors mint. The euro headlights and bumper will sharpen up things a bit ,cant wait to show it off at the june car meet ,its a clean little texas car.Our local mayor was interested in my car,hes real big into this biodiesel ,the cities municipal trucks all run on it .Maybe a future generator for city hall next year.

The best response is when people think my E is a 2000+ or so model. After I admit it's a '97, usual "WOW" or slight dropping of jaw proceeds. It's funny. I had a kid @ a gas station once ask if it was a 2005, LOL... What can I say. I really love this car...
