Turbo interchange
Will a turbo from a 350 SDL bolt up to the exhaust manifold on a 617?
What about other 60X turbos? |
Yes, same T3 flange.
|
Yes but you will have to clock the turbine and compressor housings.
After clocking those, you will have to figure out how to remount the wastegate actuator. |
Why will I need to clock the turbine housing? Is the 60X compressor flange not parallel to the exhaust ports like in the 617? The compressor housing will need to be clocked anyway to mate up with my intercooler.
|
call me stupid but what is turbo clocking?
|
It is rotating the turbine or compressor housing relitave to the rest of the turbocharger.

I have wondered if it was possible to stick a OM603 turbo on an OM617. I'm surprised that nobody has tried it yet. When I get my OM603 turbo core I will see if I can rebuild it and try it out.
Edit: You will probably need to run a water line to the turbo. |

I got that picture from here: http://www.rodionenkin.de/mbdt/dieseltuning-mb.htm

Aha! I thought I had seen that before. Those Finns are the greatest Diesel tuners aren't they!?
|
Well If I come across one for cheap I may give it a go.
Looks like it would be a hoot to try and remove the turbo on that engine. |
