Turbo interchange

Will a turbo from a 350 SDL bolt up to the exhaust manifold on a 617?

What about other 60X turbos?

Yes but you will have to clock the turbine and compressor housings.

After clocking those, you will have to figure out how to remount the wastegate actuator.

Why will I need to clock the turbine housing? Is the 60X compressor flange not parallel to the exhaust ports like in the 617? The compressor housing will need to be clocked anyway to mate up with my intercooler.

I have wondered if it was possible to stick a OM603 turbo on an OM617. I'm surprised that nobody has tried it yet. When I get my OM603 turbo core I will see if I can rebuild it and try it out.

Edit: You will probably need to run a water line to the turbo.

The exhaust flange points a different direction on the 603 because of trapox/bypass tube. You will have to clock it to keep the oil ports vertical.

Well If I come across one for cheap I may give it a go.

Looks like it would be a hoot to try and remove the turbo on that engine.
