Yet, another GP question

This morning, my car would not start. Good thing I have a back up gasser.

Any way, my glow cycle seemed really short this morning. I did the interior light test, and no dimming of the light.

Turns out the GP fuse blew. Of course, I do not have a spare...

So, my question is, what can cause the GP fuse to blow with the pencil type plugs?

My plan is to just replace the fuse and all the GP's.

Thanks!

Glow plugs can fail by shorting to the block and drawing a lot of current. Look for one with very low or zero resistance.

One way they can short to the block is the gradual buildup of carbon near the tip... a glow plug hole reamer should fix that ...

Ok, thanks guys. Now I get to try and find a reamer, fuses and GP's. Not the easiest thing to find here in this town...

Shorting out GP's, well as we know electricity and water follow the path of least resistance.

Found Bosch GP's for $9.99 each at Auto Zone. NAPA thinks they have the 80 amp strip fuse. Now, to find a reamer. I'll be picking this stuff up at lunch.

Does any one know of a McParts store that carrier a GP reamer? If not, and I have to resort to a drill bit, do I use a drill bit that is the same size as the glow tip, or the body of the GP?

Thanks!

The size of the tip would be fine for the drill bit. Use a wire brush, like a pipe cleaner, for the area the body goes into and threads if you think is necessary.
