I have a 88 300SEL and if I knew more about trannies I might consider that swap. The only problem with it is first gear in the 300SEL is so low it is almost useless. Its like the grannie low in my old pick up truck.

Some .3s had the first gear start as I understand. Also, I have a spare Euro VB I'm going to take apart and compare to a US gasser one. I'll take and note full pics.

In the PDF you sent me, it SPECIFICALLY states to mind the spring position in one of the valve bores. This has to be certainly for the second gear start issue.
