OH NO!! CLicking Sound on my 300dT

I hear a slight (irregular - not a repeated rythmic) clicking sound when under the vehicle. It's not super loud but it's there. What does it sound like when the Vacuum Pump is going to spit it bearings into the timing chain?

1. Is it loud?
2. Is there a rythm to it... eg. repeated bang bang bang bang everytime the pusher spins around to push it again.?

Thanks!

also, any other possibilities would be great... Any ideas?

Also, I hear it more when I'm by the oil pan? Or maybe it's an accessory on the fan? I don't know. But it's ir-rythmic and not very loud.

Uh, the Vac Pump probably makes a clicking noise as its about to disintegrate, but the sound would be easily pin pointed to the front of the engine. If coming from the oil pan it might be the oil pump. The small chain that dirves the oil pump has been known to fail, but I don't think they make any noise when they are going out. Normally you shouldn't have any ticking noise coming from under the car. I would have someone with experience listen to it closely before continuing to drive a lot.
