Mobil 1 Turbo diesel Truck now available at AUTOZONE!

Went to see if they had the coupon for the buy 2 jugs of zerex for $10.99 but they didnt.

I walked around the oil section and to my surprise i saw Mobil 1 turbo diesel trucj 5w40!!

$5.99/quart, im going to check to see if kragen stocks it as there is a coupon coming up next month for $3.99/quart for any mobil 1 oil!

So check your local autozones!

Really? Its here?! Horray!!! :D :D I am going there tomorrow to check it out! I've been waiting for it to come, and now I am going to clear their stock multiple times. Other people are going to have a hard time buying it at my location. :D ;)

I noticed it is at autozone too but it is the same price as oreilly that is a stones throw away! Still hoping wal-mart gets jugs of it sometime soon.

Its here!!!! I bought 3 quart bottles and a jug of washer fluid today for $20.76, gotta build up those $20+ rewards credits! :D ;) 3 to go till my next gift card.

Now I only need to accumulate 4-5 more bottles within the next 3,700 miles....shouldn't be too hard, thats months away. :D

That's more expensive than the 0w-40!

Not at my autozone, they are both $5.99/qt.

deerefanatic 01-17-2007 10:39 PM

Ya, I saw that too the other day when I was there.........

I've got about a gallon of the Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme left, (which if I can ever get this chain tensioner gasket right so it quits leaking; ought to last me a good 4-5 months with my Frantz oil filter and no more changes.........)

But I'm gonna be doin' what pawo's up to, buying it in small increments to build up those reward points fast!

Plus I have a MB Visa Credit Card so I get 1% back on all purchases; that I can use at the dealership for just about anything I want!

:D

I knew before the guys at my Autozone did

So, last Saturday I went to the Autozone to empty the 8 gallon oil canister, (Wish I could use that oil somehow) and requested the Mobil1 Turbo Diesel oil and the guy responded, "Ive never heard of that", or something to that effect. Well, I walked over to the oil section and proceeded to grab 10 quarts. The guy just looked a little confused. It was kinda funny.

After running Castrol 15W-40 over the summer, I notice a difference in the engine. It runns smoother and seems less noisy. I cant say I notice a difference in performance though. The engine definately flips over way easier in colder temps, and overall. I cant say Ive noticed a change in mileage, as the ODO remains on the fritz.

Im off to plug in the trickle charger and block heater, its already into the single digits here.

Eh - that's because it's worth it. The TDT is actually Delvac-1 in quart bottles. I know a couple people who saw increased wear metals with the 0W-40 on their oil analysis, and also increased hydraulic lifter noise. Both issues went away when they reverted to the 5W-40 or 15W-50 variants of Mobil-1. I won't use the 0W-40 in any of my cars. I use either the 5W-40 or the 15W-50.

but is that the 5w40 weight? the 5w30 weight is for gasoline engines only.

My thoughts exactly. I've only seen the "Truck & SUV" stuff at Wal-Mart (5W-30), not the TDT (5W-40), in either quarts or jugs.

If you own a OM61x then I would agree. Sorry, I was referring to the OM606.

The problems referenced above with the 0W-40 were on an OM603, not an OM61x. I use the 5W or15W in my cars, which have OM602, OM603, and M119 engines. Mercedes specifies the 0W-40 as factory fill for fuel economy reasons, not engine longevity. If I owned a 606, I wouldn't use the 0W-40 in that either...

I also wouldn't put it my 616 or 617. Other than being cheap at Walmart, it has no advantage over 5W40 in a old diesel. The M1 5W40 has better diesel ratings and is more than adequate for cold weather starting. The M1 website also recommends 5W40 for the 616/617.
