Want info about the fuel filters
Besides the obvious of catching gunk before it gets to critical components - I assume there are two different types of filters because they are serving two different specific purposes. What is the specific purpose of each filter? What micron does each one filter down to? Is the element paper in both of them?
I intend to run WVO but before I go messing with upgrading the filters I wanted to understand what they are currently trying to accomplish. Edward |

The first filter is there to catch any big chunks that might be coming down the tube. No idea on the micron rating of its plastic mesh filter. The bigger one is rated I believe to 10 microns and has a paper filter. All they really do is catch particles that would harm the ip and injectors, and not burn in your engine.

Also a built-in water separator in the larger primary filter that feeds the IP from the top yet draws fuel into the bottom.

Has anyone tried hooking up a "fuel purifier" from dieselcraft in place of the standard inline filter?

WVO and filters
Make sure to filter the WVO below the 10 micron level (not wanting to plug the primary filter). Also pass the WVO through a water block (such as a goldenrod). Do these steps before putting the oil in you tank. I mix the diesel in with the WVO, in order to clean the diesel up. Even so, the oil will still cause both filters to plug, as the heavier fluid will help clean out your tank. So, after a few tanks of oil, plan on changing both filters. Keep a supply of the prefilters on hand, and inspect the one you are using at each fill up, as it may take many tanks to clean out your tank.
