Oops! I read $99 on another forum, but you're right - they're $125 on their site now. Here's a link to the thread where Craig Reece of PlantDrive said, "They're staying at $99." (Post #4 on the thread)

It's not unlike a guy taking a '55 T-Bird and giving it the full pro-street treatment. The purists lament it, the casual observers think it's pretty cool and the gear heads marvel at the engineering.

I will admit that even though I've always had a soft spot for the 300TD's, burning SVO/WVO has always fascinated me. It probably comes from my swamp yankee roots, being a cheap ba$tard and all, but I've also got deep agricultural roots and that plays into it a lot. When the opportunity came and I was able to get my wagon I was almost convinced to do a conversion. Now that I have it and have driven it a little bit and come to appreciate what it's all about, I kind of like it the way it is. While I haven't competely ruled out VO, I will probably just experiment with some bio-d when it warms up again.

My plan for awhile has been to sell my Wrangler in the spring and buy a used diesel Suburban, heck with 4 kids and a couple of dogs to haul around I don't have much choice. I will be converting that. Some think I'm crazy to want to convert an $18K+/- truck and not my $100 TD.

There are a lot of hack-job veggie conversions out there that give the grease movement a bad name. Take your time, do the research, prepare yourself for the tinkering and you'll be happy with it.

Tell me about it. I can't believe it myself! PO was a well-off acquaintance of my grandfather, when his wife got a new MB (every 4-5 yrs!) this one went into his work fleet as an errand car. He wanted it out of his lot at his office and off of his insurance. I was hoping for a grand, maybe a little more. He said, "I'm not going to bull$hit you, if you don't want it I'm just going to donate it. I'd rather have it go to someone who'll take care of it and treat it like it should have been treated for past 15 years. How's a $100 sound?"

where are you going to find a D suburban for 18K? for that much I would think 98 - 2004, and I don't think they made the suburban in D after 01... My Dad was looking for one when he got his new 05 and the dealer could not order one. only a pick up. he really wanted the duramax in his new Suburban. NO DICE. he got a gasser 4x4 2500 with the 6.1 L LS2... not a bad vehicle, but the DMX would have been SO much better.
let us know what you find.
latest I have seen is the 98 with the turbo 6.5 in it.

My first mb is an 83 240d ,which I ran b100 as soon as I got it home. I just bought an 83 300d which I will convert to a 2 tank system for about 1/4 the cost of a kit. The 300d won't be hacked and driving 100 miles /day ,the conversion plus running bio in the main tank will allow me to drive as cheap as possible. I wanted a benz for the quality and reliability. I'd run her on cow crap if I can figure out how to do it .lol

I'd forget all about Garbage Motors...oops! did I type that?
I'd forget all about General Motors, and find a nice Ford Excursion w/diesel Powerstroke in it.GM hasn't known how to make a vehicle of any kind in a lot of years.
