What is this ultra low sulfur diesel doing to my motor?

my motor was designed for a lot more sulfur than is in the new fuels.

They have added lots of additives to help with that. On the bright side most of the places down here still run LSD in the city. So I get to stick with the good stuff till they work the kinks out.

You sure have to hope the additives to ULSD for lubricity are more effective than the additives for anti-gelling. See the other ULSD thread that discusses anti-gelling.

It may be better to supplement ULSD with your own lubricity additive for awhile and let others be the refiner's test platforms.

Just add a little bit of biodiesel to take car of the reduced lubricity.

Your motor would rather not have the sulfur. And neither would the air your exhaust dumps into.

My cousin has had problems with his car with ULSD, and now purchases 5 gallon jugs of veggie oil from costco. Has not converted the car for veggie, but just puts a couple of gallons of veggie oil every fillup. Its only 3-4 dollars a gallon there, and best of all does not need to be filtered.

How long is it going to be before everyone finally figures out this is a non-issue, it's getting boring?

Agreed. I've had nothing other than a couple of minor leaks, have been running it since it came out.

Just wait until all of the stations that have been selling ULSD all year start putting the stickers on the pump!! Then we'll see this question daily.

not another ULSD question.... true, getting very tiredsome. most that could happen would be a leaky injector pump. after 24 years of service... who cares, ill just rebuild. might be fun

I find it kind of funny actualy. People are willing to burn WVO, nasty used oils, Acetone, you name it they want to burn it in these cars! But ULSD comes around everyone freaks out!

New veggie oil provides much better lube, as well as cleans out your fuel system, acts as a detergant.

WVO properly filtered will do the exact same.

That is why people put it in their tanks, as well as being a renewable resource.

LOL, don't forget used ATF. Oh well, we can always use some more parts cars.

I don't know if you are old enough to remember when leaded gasoline was discontinued, same kind of "sky is falling" nonsense, nothing much happened then either.
