W123 Wagon Owners, I need lift gate help!BAD!

This is the deal. I Can not open the lift gate on my wagon. It was one of those things where I had opened it and shut it and then it was a few days before I had to open it again. But it never opened... the vacuum lock works, It goes up and down. The key will move the lock knob up and down, but when i push on the ouside button or pull on the inside lever, Nothing. They both seem to move within their fulll range of motion. They both meet resistance and the end of the stroke, but no click, clunk, no unlock the door. I went into the back paneling and seem to have disconnected everything that holds the mechanism to the door panel. It doesn't want to move or shift. I can seem to figure out how to remove the black plastic from around the key cylinder.

Any help would be great, I hoping its somthing simple like the pin that fell out of the passenger door handle.

thanks

There was a thread on the same problem a few weeks ago. In that instance, both posters had to pull REAL HARD on the door to open it. The latch was unlocking but the door was sticking. Perhaps that will work for you.

for what it's worth, the same thing happened to me and my TD. It just would not open. So, I took off in it anyway and drove to the gun club. When I got there, I tried it one more time and IT OPENED.

I think it just needed to build up some more vaccum...that and there was a small pile of shotgun pellets/bb's in the latch hook tray which I blew out and she has worked fine ever since.

It was like there was enough vaccum to open the other door locks, but not quite enough to pop the hatch. Take for a spin and she if she'll get the idea. She may just want you to rub her butt a little!

Frozen lock perhaps?

My wagon hatch sticks for no reason that I can find. I have to punch the button, and at the same time jerk it up violently, usually tweaking my back. It is technique sensitive.

does yers have the lock nob in the back? crawl in there and lock-unlock it a couple times. then, if that dont work, maybe have someone push the button while you give it a good kick. Careful!
