My 1986 300SDL has the same off white headliner with the red interior and red side panel trim on the pillars. I guess that's the way MBZ did it back then.

My car has white visors/header panel(on a blue interior, the pillar trims are blue as well) but every other Mercedes-Benz I can remember seeing has interior colored visors/front trim. The 1979 300D I was poking around in at the pull a part today even had it--

It might be that some of the older W123's did it that way. My '77 300D has a black interior, but a white top headliner cap/visor panel and white visors.......
It is just a shame they didn't make the black interior very much. I've always wondered why.......
