Heater blows air at first but when..

Today when I went to start my car in the 16 degree weather. I noticced after I cycled my glow plugs and start the car the heater blower goes off. It blows on high and low when I am cycling the plugs but the second the car starts the blower cuts off. Does this rule out the possibility of a bad fuse and current?
Thanks,
A

if the system is in AUTO mode and calling for heat the fan will stay off until the engine reaches 60 deg C (I think). That keeps the 16 deg air from blowing on your feet. Does your fan come on after the engine warms up some? If so, it is working correctly.

Thanks for the reply. I did not try keeping it on "auto". I had it on low after the car started. But the blower literally cuts off the minute the car starts eventhough it was blowing 10 seconds earlier.

If you push the defrost button it should override the cold shut off circuit. On mine it typically takes about half a mile of driving to get the coolant to a temperature which overrides the cut out switch if the air temperature is 25 degrees or so.

Kerry, thanks for the tip. I will try this today. So if the defrost does not stay on after I start the car could this be related to an internal temperture sensor? The sensor thinks the internal is warm enoough but its not.
Thanks.

Toes are numb after commute. Can I wire the blower to stay on with an alternative toggle switch?
Thanks
